Broadcast Messages Policy
General
The Office of Public Relations is assuming the responsibility for the
dissemination of broadcast e-mail and broadcast medical information
messages. The following general guidelines will accompany the change in
ownership and serve to streamline, eliminate unnecessary information
and make broadcast messages more readable and user friendly.
The following guidelines apply to items submitted for inclusion on
broadcast e-mail messages. Please note that some guidelines are already
applicable to broadcast messages but have not been implemented as
official policy.
Purpose
To provide information about MUSC-related events, issues and opportunities
to faculty, staff and students in an efficient, timely manner.
Policy
- Only MUSC employees, staff or students can submit a broadcast message.
The network connection password (the one assigned to you for homeroom or
atrium, not the Groupwise one) is the one used to access the "add a
message" form.
- Messages must be related to the mission of the Medical University of South Carolina
- Messages must be informative, brief and to the point.
- The content of the message and the removal date from the website are subject to change at the discretion of the Office of Public Relations staff.
- Messages must contain contact name, e-mail address and phone number and/or web address where interested parties can obtain more information.
- Messages will not be disseminated with forms (i.e. entry forms, pledge forms, etc.) but can send reader to a separate location on the web that has been designated for the form.
- Occasionally, with messages of great urgency or importance, an individual message will be sent using the list.
- No patient information should be included in broadcast messages.
Membership in broadcast messages will remain voluntary and e-mail users may add or remove themselves from the list. CCIT will continue to maintain the list of persons who subscribe to broadcast e-mail messages.
Procedure
Messages submitted at http://www.musc.edu/broadcast/add will be routed to the Office of Public Relations. Upon approval, the messages will be made available on the website within a few hours.
There will be a once daily (Mon-Fri) dissemination of broadcast e-mail
messages. Messages must be received by 4PM to be included in the next day's
broadcast e-mail message; that is, any message received after 4PM will be
broadcast after 2 working days. The sooner the messages are submitted,
the sooner they will be on the website.
