Biosensor for monitoring hemodynamic and oxygenation following pediatric cardiac surgery
In this project, we focus on developing an implantable, biocompatible, integrated micro-sensing system to monitor physiologic parameters of infant/child's heart during and after open-heart surgery. This new device will replace the current clinically used transthoracic intra-cardiac catheters and therefore reduce these severe complications. Knowledge and technology derived from this research have potential for broader applications to provide continuous intracardiac monitoring in adult patients as well.
