The specific aims of the Charleston Alcohol Research Center for the current funding period are:
- To undertake a focused, coordinated, integrated, and multidisciplinary programmatic research effort related to precipitants and/or prevention of alcohol relapse
- To act as a Center of Excellence locally, regionally, and nationally for alcohol treatment research, relying upon our strengths related to pharmacotherapy of alcohol treatment
- To encourage and support alcohol research growth throughout the MUSC campus by attracting new scientists, new trainees, new research areas, new methods, and more collaborative efforts
- To provide common infrastructure resources to help investigators increase efficiency, maximize productivity, and/or collect pilot data
- To increase the awareness of the latest information related to alcohol and alcoholism to clients, the public, MUSC faculty, trainees, physicians and future physicians
