The Steering Committee of the Alcohol Research Center is the most important internal committee for communication and governing of the Center. Meetings are held on the first Friday of each month from 12-2pm in room #451North (CDAP large Conference Room) and are chaired by the Center Director, Dr. Carrie Randall.
At each meeting there is a report from each Core. Also, the Administrative Cores administrator distributes monthly budget reports for each component and discusses pertinent official business, personnel issues, or any other information related to the fiscal operations of the Center, in general. Following Core reports, the Research Component PIs and Pilot project PIs briefly update the group on progress and problems encountered.
After the administrative and fiscal reports and the general overview of the status of each component, one research team or core is asked by Dr. Randall to take 30 minutes to provide a detailed account of their project, including the original specific aims, progress to date, and any results provided. Such presentations are scheduled several months in advance and include Pilot projects, as well. This approach allows detailed monitoring of ARC goals and objectives.
