Debbie Bordeau, Director of Development
Neuroscience Institute/Center on Aging
On behalf of all of us associated with the Center on Aging, thank you to all who
made contributions to the Medical University of South Carolina Foundation in support of our work. Fundraising efforts for age related and neurodegenerative disease raised nearly $2.6 million in FY 2006-2007. Primarily focused on Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and spinal cord injury, funds were also raised in support of neuroscience education and the senior mentor program among others. Grateful patients composed a majority of the donors, as well as private foundations, corporations and limited state funding through the Centers of Economic Excellence program.
As we look towards FY 2007-2008, we will continue to focus on identifying new donors to support enhanced clinical care and cutting edge research at MUSC. Through targeted direct mail appeals, increased outreach through printed materials and continued one on one interaction with donor prospects, we anticipate another successful year.
