Welcome to the Division of Basic Sciences and its three constituent Departments: Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Microbiology & Immunology and Cell and Molecular Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics
Our recent evolution as a collaborative Division aims at enhancing medical and graduate student education and facilitating more interactive and cross-disciplinary research. We harbor nationally recognized expertise in a number of areas, including nucleic acids, lipidomics, bioinformatics, structural biology, cancer pharmacology, pharmacogenomics, signal transduction, innate immunity, cancer immunology, microbiology, gene therapy, and virology. Our scientists are funded by more than 90 grants and contracts totaling over $25 million annually. These include awards from the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Defense, American Cancer Society and others. This highly enriched environment provides for an exciting graduate and post doctoral experience as well as a nurturing home for junior faculty. |
