A final percentage score of 95 or above results in 4.0 quality points. From 95 to 75, the quality point score decreases by 0.1 for every percentage point. From 75 to 70, the quality point score decreases by 0.2 to every percentage point. This grading scale has been successfully used for over 20 years, and it more accurately reflects student grades than the traditional A, B, C, D, and F scales. In addition, it does not penalize a student who might be borderline between a C and a B, for example. There is a large difference between the lowest C (2.0) and the highest C (2.9), etc. Since grades ultimately become quality points for GPA calculations, this scale automatically produces quality points and yields more significant figures.
